Chelsea Hall School is a unique specialist school for primary-aged students with mild to moderate, and sometimes multiple, learning needs. A primary diagnosis of autism, ADHD, or global developmental delay are just some of the complex profiles you would be working with in a role with us.

We are seeking to recruit an energetic primary school SEN teacher to join our dedicated team. You will be passionate about supporting children with SEN and committed to providing them with the best educational support possible. You will be working in close partnership with our teachers, therapists, other teaching assistants and parents.

 

The ideal applicant will have experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You will have a calm, patient approach with the ability to engage well with pupils. Experience of positive behaviour management and behaviour de-escalation is crucial to this position.

Essential qualifications and experience:

 

  • QTS

  • Valid DBS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of children with SEN/SpLD, and experience in this environment

  • Commitment to safeguarding children

  • Knowledge of relevant risk management, health & safety, and child protection practices

 

Key responsibilities for this role:

 

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons to a small class of up to 6 pupils, in accordance with the school’s curriculum framework and related policies.

  • Monitoring, recording and reporting on pupil progress.

  • Maintaining pupils’ Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and updating them on a half-termly basis.

  • Promoting the physical, educational and moral development of the students.

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of an environment and programme of learning for each individual pupil that ensures progression at an appropriate and satisfactory rate.

  • Making effective use of the class TAs by ensuring that:

    • they are aware of their responsibilities

    • they are completing their work at an appropriate standard

    • they are well briefed and able to produce appropriate and effective resources and teaching aids

    • they organise the classroom, its resources and displays in a way that provides a stimulating and supportive learning situation for all pupils

  • Supporting TAs in updating and reviewing pupils’ profiles and behaviour plans.

  • Working with and managing challenging behaviour in a way that reduces its occurrence and enables pupils to develop effective and appropriate strategies.

  • Playing a full part as a member of the school’s multi-professional team, ensuring effective working relationships with colleagues.

  • Maintaining regular communication with parents, colleagues and external agencies, both informally and in meeting times, to ensure the individual needs of each pupil are being met effectively.

  • Safeguarding all students and ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

  • Participating in training and take responsibility for personal development.

  • Ensuring good preparation for and participation in team meetings, and all parents meeting, including curriculum evening, IEP meeting, and annual reviews of EHCP meetings.

  • IT support, including:

    • Supporting IT integration into the curriculum

    • Supporting IT admin for the school

  • Previous experience as a TA is essential, if you've worked in a SEN school, that is even better!

 

 

 

Key responsibilities for this role:

 

  • Assisting teaching staff to plan and prepare lessons and resources within the school curriculum

  • Making and preparing resources for teaching and therapy staff

  • Reinforcing targets throughout the school day

  • Supporting students both within the class and during unstructured times

  • Supporting the teaching and therapy staff to maintain detailed case notes of all children

  • Supporting to produce and maintain up-to-date pupils’ profile and behaviour plans

  • Follow school procedures in reporting incidents and safeguarding concerns

  • Acting as a resource and support for other staff members working with the children

  • Participating in supervision and support as required.

We are seeking to recruit a chef to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will be working in close partnership with our admin team, teachers, therapists and support staff to provide nutritious meals for our students and staff. The ideal candidate will have a calm, patient attitude and be willing to work flexibly to meet our students' needs.

  • Excellent food hygiene and food safety awareness

  • Previous experience in kitchens is essential, and you ideally will have worked in schools or settings with children

 

 

 

Key responsibilities for this role:

 

  • Plan, prepare and cook a variety of healthy and appealing meals in accordance with age-appropriate dietary requirements and SEN considerations (dairy, nut, sugar, gluten and strawberry free).

  • Ensure all meals meet strict food hygiene and safety regulations.

  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including sweeping and mopping floors daily, wiping down surfaces and cleaning equipment.

  • Be responsible for kitchen laundry, ensuring all tea towels, cloths and uniforms are kept clean and hygienic.

  • Assist with clearing away lunch from the school hall, including sweeping and cleaning the floor and wiping down tables.

  • Help set up the lunch area.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the staff room, including wiping down tables daily and ensuring the floor is kept clean.

  • Maintain and organise the pantry.

  • Order and liaise with food suppliers and manage stock control.

  • Collect and organise food orders.

  • Conduct a deep clean of the kitchen every half term, including degreasing floors, ovens and grills, and sanitizing all surfaces.

  • Plan and prepare food for staff parties, and ensure the kitchen is deep cleaned prior to the holiday that follows.

  • Plan, order and prepare food for parent events.

  • Support with serving meals to children when required.

  • Empty all bins and recycling from the kitchen and staff room as required.

  • Undertake any additional responsibilities requested by the Headteacher.

  • Follow all health and safety procedures and attend all appropriate CPD.

  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

  • Maintain all records for a safe kitchen.
